We have launched our KMS with great success. The busyness of the deliverable took precedence over my posting. The project created many ideas to blog around KM best practices and lessons learned. Just a few of the ideas I’ll post in the near future are:
- Can KM exist in a line-of-business outside of the enterprise as a whole?
- Metrics reporting on the success of the KMS.
- Swiss cheese approach (Pros/Cons) to releasing content stores for the KMS.
- Workflow automation for feedback and managing content.
This project has also deferred authoring a book I started last winter. Hopefully, its completion will occur with the New Year. The goal is to provide insight for new comers into the KM space and help them understand KM using real-world tools and examples. The Table of Content is currently comprised of the below sections. Please email me with any advice or suggestions (fillarg@hotmail.com). I've included a portion of one section in the following posting.
- Introduction
- Knowledge Management Overview
- Introduction to Taxonomies
- Knowledge Repositories
- Knowledge Experts
- Community of Practices
- Presence
- Enterprise Search
- Business Process Management
- Business Intelligence
- Conclusion
It will be good to be back.
